The Creation of Eve

Drawing on classical renaissance tropes, this image quite literally blends ideals of femininity through the centuries to celebrate the beauty and power of the female form, whilst the negative space conjures it’s creational life force. The familiar title, an overt reference to the Creation of Adam, and circular construction do more than just nod towards Michael Angelo’s famous ceiling, whilst the complete absence of the male form draws the fundamental life-giving role of women inescapably into the foreground. This is an image for our time.
