In this series, I delve into the intersection of art and contemporary photography, in a series of images that explore the complexities surrounding the female form. Inspired by the exquisite sketches of women by the renowned Flemish artist Peter Paul Rubens, I have combined these classical representations with modern photographs of real women, creating a rich composite narrative that explores the physical female body as both a connection and a barrier between individuals. Rubens' sketches, characterised by their delicate, barely-there strokes evoking sensual forms, serve as a departure point for my exploration. The moments in time captured by the master's hand, act as a bridge to the present, where the female form continues to be a source of fascination and contemplation in modern image making. The merging of these historical sketches with contemporary photographs creates a visual dialogue that transcends time, inviting viewers to reflect on the evolution of societal perceptions surrounding the female body.
